2nd Company Techmarine and Command Squad

Continuing with the 2nd company HQ we have Techmarine Brother Gregor Actaeon. He is the one that fixes all the heavy equipment and support/transport of the 2nd. I would like him to go around with some servitors, but that honor is going to the Master of the Forge. Like I showed you a couple of posts back, he is going to ride his Mechanicum Razorback with a couple of servitors at his disposal, sweet...
Ahem... Im kinda dreaming myself away now. Anyway, here are the pictures :)

The Techmarine's colour scheme is the one that the Codex and the Insignium Astartes shows as an example. They have red armour and the colour of the Chapter with the Chapter marking on the right pauldron. As with the Chaplain from the last post, this is my very first Techmarine to paint. I kinda liked the the result of it. The only thing that bothered me a little was that the purple of the Hawk Lords does not look all to different from the red of the Techmarine (or should I say the red of the Mechanicum?) If it was a Salamander or a Ultramarine the pauldron would "pop ut" more, if you know what I mean :) As a symbol for the shoulder I use Forge Worlds etched brass. Used the Raven Guard Symbol since it is practically the same symbol. The difference is that mine's gotta be golden.
Here is a link to Forge world: Raven Guard Etched Brass
Some of you guys with a sharp eye have allready noticed that this Techmarine is the one that comes with the Thunderfire Cannon. I liked the figure from the start and thus I bought it. The figure and the cannon that I have are made of metal, but GW has recently remade them in finecast. Bye, bye metal.

The next guys you are going to se is the Command Squad of the 2nd. These guys are the veterans of the 2nd and follow Captain Septimus around. We have here Veteran Brother Rayonor, Vet. Brother Xavy Leandro, Vet. Brother Issac Jonesy, Company Champion Cortez and Apothecary Mathias Boone.

Brother Xavy is the Standard bearer and Brother Issac is the one with the Plasma gun.

Company Champion Cortez is holding his sword high!

Brother Xavy

Brother Xavy's standard took me a while to finish (Well, I think it's a pain to get started on a banner) I had to find a motif for the 2nd. What kind of a company would it be? There is no fluff on them. And the only thing I found on the Hawk Lords was the heroically death of Captain Augustus Hubertus of the 5th company.
Well after much thinking I thought that the 2nd could have their homeworld of Preyspire on the banner. It could be that they are the protectors of the planet. Maybe they averted an impending doom and had to sacrifice much to save their homeworld. Sommething heroic that the 2nd did for Preyspire.
You guys get the idea.
The rest of the squad are not so different from the regular Hawk Lord. The thing that is different is that I tried to make them look more ornate. With golden highlights on the helm and such.
Silly of me not having taken more individual pictures of them.
There is one thing that I totally screwed up on the squad. And that is the friggin' Apothecary. Man! I really had a hard time painting the white on that mofo. The good thing is that I learned a lot from painting white armour. I have to say that anyone that has a White Scar army has my total respect :D

As you guys have certainly seen on this blog is that almost all the models that I've shown you are a "first time" for me. Well, it is so. The Second Company was kinda of an experiment for me. There is much I would have done different on the HQ of the 2nd. One thing is the use of magnets, the other is the painting. But as I have mentioned earlier, Our practice evolves our skills in this hobby.

2nd Company Captain and Chaplain

Here is the 2nd Company Captain and Chaplain.
Captain Ephaesus Septimus is the one leading the second.
Chaplain Chronus Elijah is attached to the second as its "spiritual guide"
I also have a Techmarine and the Command Squad of veterans with the Apothecary (that's the next up)
I have 2 versions of Captain Septimus. One that he looks kinda young and the other he is well, a little older :) Guess he has been on the Second a loong time.

Anyway, here are the pics.

This is Cap. Septimus (young version)

And this is the Cap's older self.

The older version was one of my first figures to paint, that's why he looks kinda odd. Why odd? As you can see the cap does not have a lot of highlight and the highlight he has is kinda crappy. I also glued his arms to his body. That is sommething I wouldn't do on any new plastic HQ figures. Magnets would have been the answer. Guess you learn from your mistakes.
And learning new stuff and techniques is one thing that I like about this hobby. There is always sommething new to learn and as you go you can see some kind of personal progress in the things that you do. The only thing is that you gotta be patiente, this does not happen overnight ;)

Now, here is the Chaplain!

Chaplain Chronus Elijah. What to say about this one, hmm.... I just love this figure. It was the first Chapalin that I painted and he was the HQ in the first game of warhammer that I ever played in. Well, I like him so much because he was the only one left standing. so in my eyes he has earned the respect of his battle brothers and the Emperor, haha :D

1st Company Sternguard and Vanguard

Uh-oh!

I do not have any pictures on the sternguards that I have :(
I'll just have to tell you guys what I'm planing to do and who I have allready.

As you guys know I allready have 3 squads of Terminators and 1 on the making. I do not know if I should make another one or just have 4 squads of Terminators, 3 Sternguard and 3 Vanguard.
But for now I'll just have 3 Sternguard and 2 Vanguard.

I've allready finnished with 1 squad of Sternguards.
(GW Sternguards ) GW only sells finecast now. The ones that I got are metal ones. Some people like the metal better, but if you drop them there is a probability that they will shatter were you have glued them. Pro's and con's y'know :)
There is one little thing that I do to metal figures. The thing is that I make a 0.4-5mm hole on the different parts of the metal figure, then I use a metal pipe with the same measurements and "connect" the two pieces together. That reinforces the figure sommewhat. It is time comsuming, but highly effective for holding the figure together. I do the same to Forge World figures. I'll do a tutorial on that in the future, when I get home (if I get home, hehe)

The other squads that I got are this ones, all in metal. Haven't even primed them yet.

Sorry for not having any real pictures of the veterans. So as a little band aid for your troubles I'll show you guys sommething I've tinkering with.
Here are some picts of an unfinished Mechanicum Razorback that is going to be attached to the Hawk Lords Master of the Forge.

I used a Stormraven turret to act as the turret for the Razorback. I thought since it's a Mechanicum Razorback there would be no problem in mingling the turrets.
The Razorback does have some more work left. I want the turret to have some LED light in the cockpit where the servitor is, or to be more precise, from behind the servitor. I do have all the material to make it work, the only thing I do not have is time :)
The other thing is a minor touch of paint. Some detail and some weathering that I haven't done yet.
I'll post more pictures when the Razorback is ready.
